Southwestern Plating is a family owned and operated company that was established in 1948, but our roots were grounded years earlier in St. Louis, Missouri.  Our corporate heritage began prior to World War II when Ernest W. Ferguson was employed by Dazey Churn, makers of tin plated butter churns.  Ernest continued to hone his expertise with Acme Rustproofing until he was called to serve his country during WWII.  After returning from the war, Ernest was hired by Siegel-Robert of St. Louis as plant manager and chief operating officer.  He remained with Siegel-Robert until he and his wife Shirley had an opportunity to create their own company in Houston, Texas and thus Southwestern Plating was formed.

The journey of Southwestern Plating began with hands-on knowledge of the metal finishing industry.  This knowledge has been passed down to a second and third generation of family ownership, and is the foundation on which all present and future skills are developed.  The education and training of management and employees is an ongoing process at Southwestern Plating.  We believe in a paralleled advancement of knowledge and skill with the technologies available to our trade.  Our employee tenure speaks volumes for our knowledge and skill substructure.  At Southwestern Plating we have 25 employees with 20 or more years of service and over 25 employees with 10 years or more of service.  The understanding of the metal finishing industry began years ago for Southwestern Plating but that knowledge is present today and continually growing.

For over 60 years, Southwestern Plating has relied on its reputation of integrity to increase and maintain a loyal customer base.  Integrity is at the forefront of our success and longevity.  Southwestern Plating has never depended on an outside sales force, therefore it is imperative that our reputation be spotless and our integrity shine through.  To this day we maintain relationships with several original customers and they recognize that our word is our reputation.  In fact, even our competitors recognize our integrity.  We have gone so far as to help competitors during their times of need.  Whether it was a devastating fire, death in the family, or a simple lack of production capacity, Southwestern Plating was there to help.  Integrity has been instilled from the beginning and it is our calling card moving into the future.

The Southwestern Plating Company, Inc. began in a single 5000 square foot building inspired by one man’s dream of self proprietorship.  His dream has blossomed into three generations of ownership and a production facility close to 75,000 square feet.  Amidst all this change, the commitment to customer satisfaction and value-added service remains the core of Southwestern Plating.
